PHARMACY DRUG NEWS

Several programs are available that may help you get the drugs you need at no or low cost. Four of these are listed below.

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance program sponsored by America’s pharmaceutical companies provides patients easy access to more than 2500 FREE or NEARLY FREE prescription medicines. You may either call or go on-line to the PPARX web site. If you call 1-888-477-2669, you will talk to a trained specialist who will help determine your eligibility and apply for available prescription medicine assistance programs. If you wish to do it yourself, go on-line to www.pparx.org and consumer friendly screens allow you to fill out applications for the various prescription assistance programs. Since 2005, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance has added 1000 new medications to their list. So, if you tried before and did not find your particular prescription, you might want to try again.

Needymeds.com
is another on-line source for prescription drugs. It has four categories of help: patient assistance programs; assistance for specific diseases or conditions; help with paperwork; and state programs. Please look at the easily readable brochure to get started on-line at www.needymeds.com.

Please note, if one of these two programs does not have the medicine you are seeking, the other program may; so, check both if necessary.

Don’t forget that North Woods Community Health Center continues to provide discounted prescriptions through a contract with Inhoff Drugs, Hayward. The staff at Inhoff’s will be happy to check prices if you call, 634-2644. Also, Wal-Mart has expanded its $4 generic drug program nationwide. Call the Wal-Mart pharmacy in Hayward, 634-8309, for more information or look on-line at www.walmart.com under Pharmacy for a list of available $4 prescriptions. Some restrictions do apply.
